Due to their unique role, teachers face exposure to liability much greater than does the average citizen and therefore must exercise a higher duty of care than most professionals. Nearly every day teachers must deal with diverse laws related to issues such as child abuse, student discipline, negligence, defamation, student records and copyright infringement. Tennessee teachers often cite professional liability insurance as a major reason for becoming a member, and rightly so. Our Professional Educator Liability Coverage provides members with the most liability protection of any organization in Tennessee, at the lowest cost. Read More About Exposure Faced by Educators.
Our policy has protected many members in liability suits and/or job actions over the years. In each instance, the member needed to access the policy protections because the school district policy did not cover them. In addition to the liability insurance protection discussed above, as a Professional Educators of Tennessee member you also receive a very important type of legal protection: Learn More About Employment Protection.
